Stairways to Heaven

I think everyone is familiar with the Led Zepplin classic Stairway to Heaven. It came out on Led Zepplin IV, which also featured the magnificent blues “When the Levee Breaks”, one of my favourite Led Zepplin tracks and a re-arrangement of an older song.

There have been many parodies of the song, many serious versions and a reference to “no Stairway to Heaven” in the original Wayne’s World film. This page looks at some of the serious and not so serious versions.

Serious Versions

Here is a version of the original of Stairway to Heaven First from the live album/film (The Song Remains the Same).

The first is a version done on a classical guitar by Rodrigo y (and) Gabriela. This a beautiful piece of music.

If you like the style, there are many more from the pair on YouTube.

And a collection of greats; Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, playing a live instrumental version. It’s not the best quality sound or picture but worth a look.

Next the not so serious versions…
