The joys of getting an Indian Visa

Filed Under Work Travel | No Comments Yet

I travel with work a lot, normally across all parts of Asia-Pacific. I’ve been doing it for some time now and have got most of the routine parts down pat.

One of the great tools for a frequent business traveler is the APEC card. When you apply for one, you are given clearance to enter the member countries (18 economies around AP and nearby) for three years. This saves the hassle of getting letters from employers in other countries and spending hours lining up outside consulates to get forms processed.

There is one key economy in Asia-Pacific that does not participate in the scheme; India. This is a pity, as getting a Visa for India is one of the most painful of endeavours. This is a look at different versions of Jimi Hendrix’s Little Wing.

I thought it would be of value to record the trials and tribulations of building this blog site.

This whole site (davidedwardsphotos.com) came about after my wife complained that we have thousands of photos that are stuck on our computer but never viewed. If you think back to the film days, you normally made an effort to put photos in an album which would come out whenever you did a major cleanup. Also with film cameras we didn’t get too carried away with pictures, especially when using expensive slide film. Now with digital, you snap off a dozen shots of almost the exact same view and don’t think twice. So, getting back to the point, I decided to setup a website to display my pics.

We’ve just returned from a family weekend spent with friends on the Mornington Peninsula. With a base in Rosebud, we spent time at the Red Hill show, down the beach, and around Portsea. This entry looks at the family day trip to Porsea, taking in London Bridge, Point Nepean and the Sorrento back beach. I’ve wanted to visit Point Nepean for years. When we decided to head to Rosebud for the weekend, it seemed a perfect opportunity to see it.
