Being Shafted by the Man, again

I’ve just had my annual salary review and have been done over yet again. Yay! It wasn’t as painful as in previous years as my current boss tells it like it is, rather than wheeling out the barrow of the well worn “HR-provided” lines for managers to their staff, which is the approach my old boss used to take. I appreciate his honesty, not “putting lipstick on the pig” as he often says.

Along with the changes I made last weekend (Added some menu functions) I’ve added a few other plugins to make the blog a bit more usable. These included adding some social bookmarking links and blog statistics.

Got a way for the weekend, to St Arnaud

A few weeks ago my mate Skip said there was a weekend bike trip on to sort out the last night of the upcoming trek. I was undecided about going, especially with the huge work load due to this stupid tender I’m responding to. Then I realised I really needed to get away on the bike for a weekend and take a break. I was pretty wound up with work and leaving my Martial Arts behind. I decided to take Skip up on the offer. If only I’d known how wet and cold it was going to be…

Added some menu functions

I’ve had a chance to tweak the site a bit, adding some new plugins to help with the menus and using some Wordpress role capabilities to hide/control some content. Plus I’ve put a login form and logout function on the main page.

Had a “good Dad” Moment the other night

As a parent I often wonder if I’m doing the right things to teach and steer my kids in the right direction. It’s not something I worry about, but it sits in the back of my mind and pops up from time to time. I can certainly recall the “bad dad” moments, like forgetting a fancy dress day at creche; all the other girls were fairies and princesses and I got “the look” from my eldest.
