DescriptionFeaturing the generic cachet and a gutter pair of stamps with the thick lines. This was the earlier printing of the gutter pairs. There's a particularly rare error called the "needle through the thumb" on the second row of the sheet with the thick lines. Covers with this pair are rare and expensive.

General Notes
  • This is a generic (aka "Shield") cover, the PMG produced the cacheted envelopes and post offices or collectors affixed stamps. There are a number of colour combinations of the shield patterns; solid or hollow, grey, dark grey, fawn or brown. These were blank envelopes and any combination of stamps may be found on them.
