I had a string of training weeks back to back (Orlando, New Orleans, Raleigh, Orlando then Washington) and I decided to make a road trip out of the NO - Orlando part with two weekends of driving. This was the first part.
I left New Orleans and drove up the Mississippi to the Civil War site at Vicksburg, covering both Louisiana and Mississippi. Along the way I took in a tour of an antebellum plantation and visited an old town on the Mississippi. Vicksburg was the site of one of the most famous Civil War battles, and included both land and river battles. There is a recovered and partially restored ironsides. I finished the day in Birmingham Alabama (third state for the day).
