Welcome

Welcome to the Edwards-Doughty family tree website. This site contains the ancestral information for David Edwards, Lisa Doughty and our daughters Maddison and Jordan. It traces the heritage of our forebears from Ireland, Scotland and England to Australia over the 18th, 19th and 20th century’s.

You can navigate around the site using the links to the right, the links on this page or the search function on the right.

I’ll get a nice pictoral family tree here eventually, but the following structure shows the areas of the site:

This site is a constant work in progress. Pages marked with Page locked refer to living people and are restricted to registered users. Please contact me if you would like access.

  1. Hi,
you recently posted a comment on rootsweb I think about St Anthony of Padua RC Church, in Walker, Newcastle, UK. I am from this Parish and am helping put archival information together as the church is celebrating its 150 years this year. Is there any chance you can email me a copy of the marriage certificate of your ancestors. You mention the name Toban, but I think it is Tobin, which was an Irish name. We have records of Tobins in St Anthony’s in 1907. They might be your relatives 🙂 Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
My name is Christopher Edward David Doughty. Iam 38 male fiji citizen who just moved to NZ. Iam trying to track where my ancestors really come from. was told that they moved from ireland to Australia then my greatgreat gran dad moved to Fiji. I think the name of my great great grand dad was William Doughty. He went to fiji and married a fijian woman.
my dad passed away when i was 1year old, so i didnt have a chance to ask him where i was original from. have manage to locate a family tree drawn up by my elder sister before she passed away 3 years ago.
my email address is as follows: chris4christfiji@gmail.com

Hi, I am wondering which branch of Doughtys you have in your family tree. When did they arrived in Australia? I am trying to connect our Doughtys with decendants of John and Rebecca Doughty (nee Griffiths) and Robert John and Hannah Doughty (nee Doughty).

These Doughtys originally came from Norfolk and settled in Portsea, before the above mentioned Doughtys arrived in the Colony. John and Rebecca Doughty per “Trafalgar” in 1853 and settling in Tumberumba on the Southern Tablelands and Robert John and Hannah Doughty, arrived in 1876 per “Clyde”, disemarking in Adelaide and later making their way to Albury where they settled.

    Cheers

  13. Judy R née Kirwan says:

Hi, I am a descendant from a Patrick Kirwan who was born in Roscrea in 1824, and married a Mary (W)Rafter at Tullamore on the 9th July 1948. They migrated to Australia on the Blackheath in 1853 with their son Edward, age two.

On Patrick’s baptism records it shows him as Roman Catholic and his parents are Patrick Kirwan and Mary Collison … Sponsors are Michl and Mary Kirwan.

Patrick and Mary had three more children in Australia, Henry William who is my Great Grand Father and on his marriage certificate it shows his father Patrick was a miner.

I have not been able to find when Patrick died or if he returned to Ireland … His wife Mary remarried in 1871.

I was wondering if you came across either of my Patrick’s in your research:

Patrick born 1824, there is possible an earlier Patrick born 1822 who may have died as an infant and an Edward born about 1827.

Patrick born at 1790 married a Mary Collison .

Any information or link would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Judy R née Kirwan

    Hi there David!
I’m the Great Granddaughter of George and Elizabeth Gallagher… Granddaughter of Brian and Judith Gallagher… And daughter of their eldest son, Martin. I would absolutely love to see how far back you have managed to get with the O’Shannessy and Gallagher lines…
Nice to electronically meet you, relative! (I could not work out what that relation was!)

Hi Shannon, this is all I have on the O’Shannessy line. Brian has a lot more of the Gallagher side (I’ve always meant to get it off him).
